Echo Valley (2025) Queer Film. Another Julianne Moore Triumph. B+

“Echo Valley” is a 2025 thriller directed by Michael Pearce, featuring Julianne Moore and

Sydney Sweeney. The film is centered around a mother daughter relationship complicated

by crime and addiction.

Exploring themes of family, resilience, and survival “Echo Valley” is a taut psychological drama set against a rural backdrop,. The director, Michael Pearce, who made the great British film “Beast” with Jessie Buckley, keeps this tale of drug addiction, murder, and cover-up moving with visceral precision. Working seamlessly with his leading lady, he shows us what a magnificent actress Julianne Moore can be.

Playing a trainer of wild horses, alone on her ranch and mourning the death of her partner from her first long-term lesbian relationship, Moore evinces a beatific word-weary quality that’s challenged when her drug addict daughter gets into trouble with the wrong crowd. Sydney Sweeney, Fiona Shaw and a chilling Domhnall Gleeson provide excellent support. Sweeney gives Ann Blyth a run for her money as the most ungrateful daughter in movie history!

Jesse Plemons Extraordinary Weight Loss: Is it Ozempic?

Jesse Plemons is almost unrecognizable. The man sharing the screen with Emma Stone in Bugonia bears little resemblance to the one who stood opposite Elizabeth Olsen in Love and Death just a couple of years ago. The transformation is so dramatic that the reflexive assumption is obvious: Ozempic — or one of its many GLP‑1 cousins — must be involved.
