NYFCC Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Barton Fink, Judy Davis

The New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) Award for Best Supporting Actress was first awarded in 1969 to Dyan Cannon for “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice”

I researched how much my esteemed colleagues in NY agree with the Academy. What are the chances of the recipient of the “NYFCC Award for Best Supporting Actress” picking up an Oscar nomination? Well, in the fifty-six years since Dyan Cannon first won in NY in 1969, 16 of their choices have failed to get a nomination, beginning with Sissy Spacek’s snub for “Three Women” in 1977.

Only a 71% Chance of an Oscar Nomination.

BASICALLY 25% CHANCE OF NOT GETTING ONE

Result: only a 71% concordance or a slightly greater than a one in four chance of Oscar snubbing the NYFCC choice.
